The IMO's ruling that sulphur content of fuel should be reduced to 0.1% in the two Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECAs) by 2015 will push freight back on to the roads, says Pirn de Lange, Stena Line's North Sea route director.rn"If we have to go to distillate fuels in the future, the price of fuel will increase byrn80%; but we will still have to compete against the Channel Tunnel," he says. "While bridges and tunnels will not have to increase their prices, you will see a modal shift again from sea to land."
