Many hiring managers and human resources professionals think just e-mailing a copy of the job description to their search firm will suffice. For some "volume" search firms (often referred to as "resume houses"), this may be enough, but it's not the best way to get your money's worth when hiring an executive search firm. What follows are some tips on to how to most effectively utilize your search firm: 1. Be candid with your search consultant. Let your recruiter know of any negatives surrounding your company. For example, your compa- pens is that the manager forgets a candidate's pluses and minuses and other key insights. In fact, detailed feedback immediately after an in-person or phone meeting often will bring to light different qualities that would be helpful for the job. Also be sure toshareyourfeedback after an interview via a live phone call with your recruiter, not by e-mail. While e-mail is an invaluable business tool for conveying information, it's not suitable for post-interview comments about a candidate.
