For San Francisco's Bay Bridge, the possibilities are endless-or pretty close to it. The bridge was recently outfitted with 25,000 LED nodes, each with 255 different light levels. Do the math-that factors out to 6 million potential combinations, which should be enough for the two years that The Bay Lights will be on display. The Bay Lights is the result of a public-private partnership involving organizer Illuminate the Arts, Caltrans and the renowned artist Leo Villareal.
