PRESERVING AN ARTIST'S LEGACY

The late Ed Paschke is known for his colorful and multifaceted oeuvre of art work, including paintings, photographs, holographs, sculptures and more. The new Ed Paschke Art Center in Chicago, which was established to honor and share Paschke's legacy, follows suit. The diverse building features 2,800 sq ft of exhibition space, 1,700 sq ft of educational space and a re-creation of the artist's former studio. To illuminate the art work and various rooms, the Ed Paschke Foundation opted to use four types of LED fixtures from 3M's Design Lighting group. The decorative and flexible fixtures emulate art pieces, enhancing the setting and exhibitions while remaining practical and energy efficient. A rainbow-colored pendant lights the entryway; walls and ceilings are illuminated by a linear, modular system; a configuration of circular fixtures with reflector finishes enhances the studio re-creation; and an 8 ft linear pendantlights the workshop.
