Local businesses delay Wolverhampton work

Closure of Wolverhampton's bus station to allow work on the city's new GBP30m multi-modal transport interchange has been put back until 2010 to avoid disruption over the Christmas period. Local traders successfully lobbied the developer, city council and Passenger Transport Executive Centra to postpone the work until after the lucrative shopping season. The new interchange is still expected to be operational during 2011, although Midland Metro tram services will be extended there later.
