Is this really the UK's green light for light rail?

THE report on the Department for Transport's Light Rail Review was published on 20 September by Norman Baker MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport, setting out the Government's concerns relating to the further development of tram and light rail systems in the UK and proposing change on issues such as utility diversions and standardisation. Newly-elected Light Rail Transit Association Chairman Andrew Braddock believes that the report is timely, "...given the debate in the Coalition about capital investment to secure jobs and local economic growth. As has been shown in France, there is no better way to transform a city and set off the regeneration process than to build a tramway."
