The rush for European manufacturers to find Chinese partners to give them access to the rapidly expanding tramway sector in China is a trend that TAUT has already reported on extensively - now Czech company Inekon has made a similar partnership, but for different reasons. It will import a Czech-designed, but Chinese-built tram to Europe (more specifically its Ekova Electric base in the Martinov Ostrava tramway workshops) in order to achieve EU homologation that would give it the ability to supply more cost-effective trams in the European market. Its Chinese partner is Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Group with a factory at Xiangtan in Hunan province.
