Beijing orders licensed AnsaldoBreda trams

CNR Dalian has been awarded a contract for 31 five-section trams, the first of which should be delivered by the end of this year. The 100% low-floor, air-conditioned trams, a licensed version of the AnsaldoBreda Sirio design, will be equipped for both catenary and surface current (the Tramwave system) collection. A 9.4km (5.8-mile) tramline is being built as the Xijiao line in the western suburbs, and -should open in 2015 to carry passengers to the Xiangshan scenic resort in the Fragrant Hills of Haidian district.
