URBAN RAIL'S ROLE IN CLIMATE CHANGE AND URBANISATION

Milan, host city for the 2015 UITP World Congress and Exhibition, is a fine example of political will in terms of pollution reduction, combining what is the biggest public transport offering in Italy with private car restriction measures like congestion charging and strict parking policies. ATM and FNM have both been busy developing and expanding their operations recently to provide the Milanese and Lombard people with modern and comfortable public transport services that include bus, tram, metro, and commuter trains, as well as car- and bike-sharing, providing a convenient alternative to the private car.
