Full Canberra light rail project costs revealed as preliminary works begin

The total cost of the 12km (7.5-mile) light rail line linking Gungahlin with the centre of the Australian capital has been put at AUD939m (EUR607m), Transport Canberra revealed following the financial close of the contract for construction, operations and maintenance with Canberra Metro on 24 May. The Canberra Metro consortium - led by Pacific Partnerships, with its partners CPB Contractors, John Holland, Mitsubishi Corporation, Aberdeen Infrastructure Investments, Deutsche Bahn International and CAF - is responsible for delivering 12km of double-track alignment, 13 stops, 14 low-floor trams, a depot and 20 years of operation and maintenance under its contract, valued at AUD707m (EUR457m).
