摘要

Strasbourg followed fellow French regional centres Nantes and Grenoble in choosing light rail to reinvigorate public transport in the latter decades of the 20th Century. Overcoming opposition and using local government powers, all three created multi-line systems despite not having an extant tramway. All three have also remodelled existing urban areas and made developments in reference to an expanding system.
