E-Books - eine Herausforderung für Öffentliche Bibliotheken

Insbesondere Öffentliche Bibliotheken stehen bei der Verfügbarkeit von E-Books und damit der aktuellen Anpassung ihrer Serviceleistungen vor großen Problemen europaweit. Was nach aktuellem Urheberrecht für physische Medien geregelt ist, wird derzeit für digitale Medien mittels Lizenzen vereinbart. Aufgrund dieser rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen und des Finanzverhaltens von Verlagen ist die Aufgabe der Öffentlichen Bibliotheken in der Zukunft gefährdet.%Especially in Europe, public libraries have problems with the availability of e-books and, as a consequence, with the adjustment of their services. Tangible objects are regulated by the copyright law, but intangible objects are acquired by licenses. On the basis of this current legal framework as well as the publishers' business policy, the future of public libraries is endangered.
