L.A. CITY LIBRARIAN GOMEZ LEAVES FOR USC

Los Angeles city librarian Martin Gomez will leave the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) to serve as vice dean of the University of Southern California (USC) Libraries, beginning April 2. Gomez told LJ that he will serve as the "inside person, making the trains run on time," so that the dean can focus on external outreach. USC dean of libraries Catherine Quinlan joined the university in 2007 and spearheaded an organizational restructuring the following year.
