QUEENS LIBRARY TRUSTEES DISMISSED

One month after the New York State legislature and Gov. Andrew Cuomo gave New York City's mayor and the Queens borough president the power to remove trustees from the Queens Library (QL) board, the officials exercised it. On July 23, the offices of New York City mayor Bill de Blasio and Queens Borough President Melinda Katz sent notifications of dismissal to eight QL trustees. The Daily News reported that six of these trustees were appointed by previous Queens borough presidents, while two had been appointed by previous mayors. One additional trustee was reported to have resigned.
