This summer is shaping up to be a great one for new books from up-and-coming authors, series launches from longtime favorites, and movie tie-ins. This July, Tyndale House will reissue Lew Wallace's 1880 classic Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ, updated and modernized by Carol Wallace, the author's great-great-granddaughter. This coincides with the August 12 release by MGM and Paramount Pictures of the third film adaptation of the novel. Another exciting project due out this fall is Francine Rivers's nonfiction title Earth Psalms: Reflections on How God Speaks Through Nature (Tyndale House, Oct.). I previewed a sample of the book at this year's Public Library Association conference, and it is gorgeous, with beautiful photographs and, of course, the author's wonderful writing. Take some time this summer to check out a few titles for yourself and build those readers' advisory muscles. It's an easy way to make connections between secular and inspirational offerings.
