Causes Inhibiting the Growth or Development of Information Transfer in Africa: A Contextual Treatment

The relevance of information infrastructure to global competitiveness relies strongly on its ability to process and share information world-wide. This phenomenon ironically emphases the domain of information transfer or information sharing through the activities of all information players. This is otherwise known as activities performed by information providers. These bodies have been X-rayed by Kaniki (1992) and Bredenkamp (1995), who identify information providers as including all types of communication channels and sources, be it persons, publications, agencies, organisations, institutions, or groups of institutions processing a variety of resources that can be used to transfer information for different purposes. The environment can be described as containing many issues and permutations on how they play out. Many examples can be summarized and described as follows.
