BarCampOrlando 2009: a model for libraries?

The third BarCampOrlando was held on Wall St Plaza in downtown Orlando, Florida, on Saturday 18 April 2009. BarCamp is an ad hoc, mainly technology-focused conference occurring in cities all over the world. Characterized as an "unconference," BarCamp, and events like it, are largely user generated. While enthusiastic organizers arrange the venue and garner sponsorship for perks like wireless internet, lunch, and t-shirts, attendees are expected to arrive ready to present or lend a helping hand. The presentation schedule is decided the morning of the event, when attendees scramble for timeslots on the giant whiteboard outlining the activities of the day.
