The ICDL is a five-year research project of the University of Maryland's Human-Computer Interaction Lab and the Internet Archive. The project brings together children, librarians, publishers and software developers to develop a digital library that addresses the needs of children, ages 3 to 13. The Library of Congress is contributing digitized versions of 50 books from its collections to the new International Children's Digital Library (ICDL), a Web site that is making children's literature from around the globe available online.
