The Role of Architecture and Design in the Security Strategy of a Nigerian University Library

摘要

This article is a case study on architecture and design factors in the security strategy of the University Library of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. It identifies the library as equally prone to security problems as any other public building. The major security challenges in a typical library are identified, and some of the efforts of other libraries to manage their security are explored. The design and plan of the University library is examined critically, and areas of structural weakness and strength are identified.
