Medical Defence Union calls for reform of patient compensation system

Billions of pounds could be saved from NHS funds if the system for compensating injured patients were reformed, according to the Medical Defence Union (MDU). The spiralling costs of compensation to the NHS can no longer be ignored, said the MDU, with the Liberal Democrats having announced plans to provide an extra £8 billion funding to the NHS and the Chancellor promising £2 billion extra for the NHS in 2015/2016.
