Falling raw material quality is the blight of every tanner, a fact which has not gone unrecognised in Brazil. Around 40% of leather defects are estimated to occur after slaughter. The Braspelco Group have identified the causes then educated, trained and invested in tackling the problem at its very root. Martin Ricker investigates.
