Foot and mouth disease continues to dominate the farming industry in the UK and Ireland. At the time of writing a so called hot suspect in County Tyrone in Northern Ireland has proved negative to the great relief of everyone on the island of Ireland. Obviously the main concern of the departments of agriculture in both parts of the island is to prevent any more outbreaks of foot and mouth, and as a consequence hide and skin producers are low on the priority list.
