KOTO are the biggest and best organised hides and skins trader in Slovenia and can be described as world class. Raw material is collected from all over Slovenia and some from neighbouring Croatia as well, from good contacts set up when both countries were part of the republic of Jugoslavia. The company have 20 warehouses throughout the country for initial collection and salting. Five of these are larger than the rest and it is from these premises that the hides and skins, sorted by weight and categorised by quality, are despatched to customers, mostly overseas. The only real exception is with pigskins which are mostly required for the country's pigskin tannery IUV. KOTO sell mainly to Europe. They began by supplying Italy some 14-15 years ago and have expanded since then to include Germany, Austria, France, Spain and the UK.
