After many years of participating at the APLF, Pakistan this year be the focus country at the Hong Kong leather fair, It is hoped that this will help Pakistan to project itself as a producer of quality leather and leather garments, By Abdul Rauf Siddiqi The leather industry in Pakistan is the second biggest foreign exchange earner after textiles, contributing more than 7% of foreign exchange earnings. It represents more than 5% of the manufacturing of GDP in Pakistan and, according to rough estimates, about half a million workers are attached to this sector. With the passage of time, the tanning industry has developed fast and the tanneries feature the latest machines and produce quality finished leather which is much in demand throughout Europe and the Far East.
