After an industry event I feel energised. Talking to people in the industry helps to get a sense of what's really going on rather than just relying on the phone, internet or email. Despite overkill from too many late nights at Joe Bananas I flew back from the APLF in Hong Kong with a real sense that we as an industry are beginning to get our act together. Yes, the leather industry is fragmented and Italians want to do one thing and the Chinese another. But I cannot recall a period in recent history in which so many debates and initiatives are taking place.
