UK leather and footwear sales unaffected by Brexit

The impact of Brexit has been felt in the UK high street, but leather and footwear are appearing to buck the downward trend. The most recent CBI survey showed that overall sales volumes fell more rapidly than at any time since the first month of 2012. The motivating factor has been declining consumer confidence after UK voters opted for Brexit at the end of June 2016. However, not all sectors were affected by Ming sales; retailers of footwear, leather goods and non-specialised department stores have all posted higher volumes.
