A senior official of the Mexican government announced that the country is planning to tender radio frequencies for WiMAX, mobile phone, and mobile Internet in the first quarter of 2009. In an interview with the Reuters, Deputy Communication and Transport Minister Purificacion Carpinteyro said that the government remains committed to tendering the spectrum. He added that the tender process is expected to commence by the beginning of 2009.
