Honduras' state-owned national fixed-line operator, Hondutel, may seek an alliance with a strategic investor to help it better compete in the increasingly competitive local market.rnA local analyst said that Hondutel may adopt such a plan as it looks to upgrade its outdated network to compete with Digicel, Tigo, and Claro. As it stands, the operator's mobile capabilities are limited to voice calls and SMS, and its core fixed line business - which generates some 60 percent of annual revenues - is in slow decline.
