Uruguay approves 700MHz, AWS tender conditions

The Uruguayan industry, energy and mining ministry has approved the conditions for the forthcoming tender of spectrum in the 700MHz and 1700M Hz/2100MHz (AWS) bands, reports Telesemana. A total of 155MHz will be auctioned via 16 lots, including five lots of 10MHz in the 700MHz range and five blocks of 10MHz in the AWS band for private operators. The rest (40MHz in the 700MHz band and 15MHz in the AWS) will be reserved for state-owned operator Antel. Winning bidders for the 20-year licenses will be required to complete the network rollout within 24 months.
