Claro Colombia expands live 5G network tests to 4 cities

Claro Colombia (America Movil) has expanded the trial of live 5G networks using Nokia equipment on the 3.5GHz band to a total of 4 cities. After launching the first 5G pilot in the capital Bogota in the summer, the operator has now extended the tests to Medellin, Cali and Barrancabermeja. In a statement, Claro said the trial will last 6 months, during which it will be teaming up with private and public bodies to test the effectiveness of mobile, fixed-wireless access (FWA) and corporate 5G technology in sectors including e-health, e-education and smart cities.
