Colombia's Ministry of Information Technology and Communications (Ministerio de Tecnologias de la Informacion y las Comunicaciones, MinTIC) has confirmed that it expects to stage its long-delayed auction of 700MHz spectrum in October this year. Announcing the plans, Ivan Antonio Mantilla, the Deputy Minister of Connectivity and Digitalization, commented: 'In the second half of this year, the 700MHz band auction will be executed. Rural areas, including the department of Boyaca, will be prioritized for broadband coverage.'
