摘要

Mosaieculture, the art of sculpting with plants, is a somewhat neglected aspect of garden design history. Inspired by Renaissance gardens and the parterres of the French royal court, the tradition of using floral displays in the form of two-dimensional emblems is still practiced throughout Europe. China, Korea, and Japan have their own traditions of mosaieculture within their respective garden traditions. At the 2009 International Mosaiculture Competition in Hamamat-rnsu, Japan, the Grand Honorary Award-winning entry, created by the City of Montreal, was inspired by a literary work about-what else?-plants.
