Mosaieculture, the art of sculpting with plants, is a somewhat neglected aspect of garden design history. Inspired by Renaissance gardens and the parterres of the French royal court, the tradition of using floral displays in the form of two-dimensional emblems is still practiced throughout Europe. China, Korea, and Japan have their own traditions of mosaieculture within their respective garden traditions.
