Tired of making money for others as an estimator, Todd Duncan is now making money for himself and his partners. Duncan Underground, his new Punta Gorda, Florida business, specializes in site development such as installing underground water, sewer and storm drainage lines. Only 26 years of age, Todd is well founded on the fundamentals and techniques necessary for the work his firm is doing. "I study what older and much more experienced contractors are doing and listen to what they're saying," he says. "I've learned from them how to do my work better and to avoid mistakes that I could easily make." Todd gives much credit to Bob Taylor, a Sarasota contractor who has been in the land improvement business for some 40 years. "I've learned so much from him," he says. This relationship started when Todd, at age of 16, began working for Bob in his warehouse, where they were assembling pipe plugs. "We worked long hours, sometimes up until 2:00 am," Bob remembers. The relationship continues today with Duncan Underground where Todd and Bob are partners along with Randy Yoder. Todd is President, Bob is Vice President and Randy is Chief Financial Officer.
