About thirty freshly scrubbed and enraptured middle-schoolers sit on a grassy slope early in the cool morning listening intently to Chris Cassel, their teacher, telling them how to plant a tree. Holding up a shovel and mattock, he explains that they must learn how to correctly use these tools to dig the holes for the trees. Step by step, he shows them how to hold the shovel and the mattock so as to move the dirt and keep from hurting themselves.
