Sandy River Bank Stabilization Project

The Sandy River is a 73-mile long tributary of the Kennebec River, running easterly toward its confluence with the Kennebec in Norridgewock. Originating at the Sandy River Ponds of Western Maine, the river takes a meandering path through Farmington Falls. In late August of 2011, a horseshoe bend in the river near Farming-ton Falls took a severe beating as Hurricane Irene raced through the region.
