摘要

This paper shows the design of an active tuned mass damper to suppress the nonlinear vibration due to wind in cable stayed bridges. It is shown that the velocity feedback design is not useful in providing the desired damping to suppress the vibrations in the bridge. The pole assignment method was a successful method in providing good damped response for the bridge. It is also concluded that active control forces if designed properly could provide a better controlled response than using passive control forces.
