Acupuncture Treatment of Synovitis with Effusion — A Report of 50 Cases

Synovitis of the knee joint is a commonly encountered disease found in the middle-aged and old people. The disease is usually painful, particularly on motion, and is characterized by fluctuating swelling due to effusion within the synovial sacs in case there is trauma, inflammation or rheumatism. It is often an intractable one in western treatment. However, acupuncture treatment may produce a quite satisfactory effect in a relatively short duration. The authors in recent years, have successfully treated 50 cases of the disease. A report follows.
