摘要

Cardiotrophin-1 (CT-1), a novel cytokine, was discovered from nouse embryoid bodies differentiated from embryonic stem cells by monitoring myocyte-hypertrophic activity. CT- 1 is a new member of the interleukin-6 superfamily and directly binds to the leukemia inhibi- tory factor receptor and induces hypertrophy in cultured myocytes by activating a gp 130 signaling pathway.
