Nonlinear analyses for the semicoupled problem of temperatures, seepage, and stress fields in cold region retaining walls
In this article, a mathematical mechanical model and the governing differential equations of the semicoupled problems of temperature, seepage, and stress filed, with phase change, are first derived form the theory of heat transfer, the theory of seepage, and frozen soil mechanics. Then the finite element formulae of this problem are obtained from Galerkin's method. Finally, an illustrative example is provided that shows the effect of a seepage field on the temperature field of cold region retaining walls is large and the influence of a frost-heaving force on the stresses of cold region retaining walls is very large.
