American Libraries and the Internet: The Social Construction of Web Appropriation and Use

Bin Li, in her recent book, deals with a major question of how libraries and librarians are dealing with the changing faces of librar-ianship in the World Wide Web era. She takes an interpretive and social constructionist approach in understanding Web appropriation and use in American libraries. She uses the social construction of technology (SCOT) model, a sociological conceptual framework, to study various perceptions librarians have of the World Wide Web and how they have changed over the past decade.
