A numerical investigation was conducted to analyze the pressure ratio effect on the PIFS phenomena and on the convective heat flux at the base surface. In regard to the PIFS phenomena, as the altitude increased, the recirculation region was raised on the base surface and moved toward the edge while decreasing in size. Subsequently, PIFS originated at the edge of the body surface, additionally increasing in size as the altitude increased as the slope of the plume boundary increased with the increase of the pressure ratio.
