The Ct-Guided percutaneous treatment of sciatica caused by intervertebral disc protrusion

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of CT-guided precutaneous treatment of intervertebral disc protrusion causing sciatica (PTDPS). Subjects and Methods PTDPS were carried out on 306 patients with back or leg pain from Mar. 1993 to Dec. 1997. CT examination verified the intervertebral disc protrusion. With CT-guidance a lumbar puncture needle of 20G was advanced to the site or sites around the affected nerve roots And corticosteroid was injected into the subdural space. Conclusion: CT guided PTDPS is a safe, Accurate, effective and minimally against the pathophysiolgy of sciatica caused by Intervertebral disc protrusion. It is suitable for wider clinical application.
