摘要

The paper investigates some elements of the wood-polyurethane coating system that could relate to chemical interaction. Beech and oak samples were characterized by their soluble and bound acid content. The curing reaction of polyurethane coating in the presence of wood was studied by determining the gel time of the coating and by measuring the heat effect of the curing using the DSC method. The contact angles of a distilled water droplet and a polyurethane coating droplet on wood samples conditioned to various moisture contents were measured as well. The adhesion of the coating was determined by the pull-off method. The obtained results indicated the significant influence of wood species on the curing of polyurethane coating.
