Quality experts use problem solving and process/quality improvement skills in a broad variety of applications. Although practitioners often assume that the more technical the process, the more difficult it will be to generate improvements, that is not necessarily true. Many highly technical, extremely controlled processes are designed in such a way that causes of variation not only are easy to identify but also have relatively straightforward solutions. There are many tools available for these situations, including Lean Six Sigma projects, kaizen events, and the use of design of experiments.
