Borderline und Abhängigkeit

Experience has shown that the treatment of dependency disorders is more complicated in patient with borderline personality disorder than those with other conditions. The author explains this based upon the structural disturbance that characterize borderline personality disorder, and the typical dynamics seen in patients with the disorder. She points out that the less integrated the current level of personality function is, the more severe are the dynamics of addiction and the more interwoven they are with the patient’s personality dissociation. She recommends a structurally related treatment process, whereby one helps the patient’s basic structural level of competencies to mature before it is possible to successfully undertake classical addiction therapy.
