How to Respond to the Crisis Victim with PTSD Symptoms: An Intervener's Guide

The purpose of this article is to educate crisis interveners about specific strategies that can be used in the field when dealing with a victim with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms. The commonly encountered symptoms of PTSD are discussed, so that interveners can develop a more thorough understanding of crisis from the perspective of the person suffering from PTSD symptoms. The goal of this article is to assist crisis interveners in developing skills that can be applied in the field when they encounter persons exhibiting PTSD symptoms.
