摘要

The story goes, that whilst reading about the leakage problems in the UK water sector, Dr Ian McEwan, a reader at the University of Aberdeen's Engineering Department, cut his finger on a paper and then speculated whether the mechanisms that the body uses for repairing tissues could be transferred to sealing leaks in pipelines. Since then, the concept has been developed and proved through a spin-off company from the University called Brinker Technology and used recently on BP's Foinaven field.
