摘要

The bioactive composite coatings based on chitosan and Ce-doped nanobioactive glass (NBG) were synthesized for SS 316L using electrophoretic deposition technique. The microstructure, wetting, adhesion strength, and in vitro bioactivity of the coatings were evaluated. Electrochemical corrosion behavior of the coated substrates was evaluated. Moreover, the cell viability was Investigated against normal skin cells. Furthermore, the coatings were functionalized with gentamicin drug, and drug release profile and kinetic were studied. Antibacterial activity of the functionalized coatings was determined too. The results showed that the coatings presented good adhesion strengths and enhanced the wettability. Moreover, the coated substrate with composite provided a significant improvement in corrosion resistance. The coatings didn't cause a cytotoxic effect and formed apatite-like crystals upon immersion in SBF. Also, gentamicin drug was released in a sustained manner by Fickian diffusion mechanism. As well as, drug/coating containing NBG showed higher antibacterial effect than that of chitosan coating.
