Britain and Denmark have a shared history going back to the Viking age, and much of that common history has clear maritime aspects, so this volume, with its front cover illustrated with a picture of Esbjerg harbour, seems promising enough to the maritime historian. However, the content of the book is somewhat disappointing from a maritime point of view. The book nevertheless shows the very positive perspectives for future academic co-operation and exchange of knowledge across the North Sea.
