Agency theory is one of the richest theoretical traditions in the management literature. The appeal of agency theory lies in its apparent simplicity and the clarity of its argumentation. It defines and prescribes a set of relationships in organizations, as constituting a set of actors bound by demarcated terms of relationships, and as influenced by differing sets of motivations.
